Electrical engineering originally opened in 1974. The former regime decided to close the University at the beginning of eighties for Political Reason. However, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) reestablish the university in 1992. In fall 2004, Electrical Engineering department started to accept new students after 4 years of preparation and hard work. The first generation of students awarded their BSc degree on 2008*.
The primary mission of the department is to provide in-depth understanding of Basic Electrical engineering principles. Students will have basic background in the general traditional disciplines of electrical engineering considering electronics, communications, power, machines, computer and control. Simultaneously, the department continuously establishes Master degree in (Power and Machines, Electronics and Communications, Computer and Automation).
