CIVIL ENGINEERING BSc.
Course length: 4 Years leading to a BSc. in CIVIL ENGINEERING
Below are the courses required to be taken when studying CIVIL Engineering BSc in the College of Engineering at the University of Sulaimani.
This program consists of a four-year curriculum to be complete by our students. The program provides the students with a wide range of topics in civil engineering including structural, transportation and wastewater treatment engineering. The students will also receive basic education, including theory and practice of designing and constructing buildings such as civil and industrial structures, bridges and geo-technical engineering objects.
The annual system of study will be followed in the department.
- Total overall number of hours = 3360
- Total overall number of units = 168
- Each academic year consists of ( 30 ) studying weeks
TEACHING AND LEARNING
The students will study civil engineering core modules such as engineering mechanics, building materials, mechanics of materials, fluid mechanics, building construction, environmental engineering and surveying in the first and second years. In their last two years, they will take modules in highway and transportation engineering, concrete design, water distribution system design, wastewater treatment, geo-technical engineering, and foundation engineering. Some of the modules require the completion of laboratory experiments. The final year will culminate with a project required for all graduating students.
In this program, the student's performance in each module is assessed in various ways throughout the courses. The assessment comprises written exams, quizzes, reports, coursework and presentations. A summer training course, for ONE MONTH during July or August, in the fields related to the subjects that have been taken theoretically is one of the requirements in the third year.
