About Engineering

The Architecture Engineering department plays a crucial role in designing the buildings and spaces that shape our cities. Our program is tailored for talented students who have a passion for learning the art of building design, and integrating modern technology. We are committed to educating future generations of ethical professionals, creative designers, and knowledgeable citizens.

Established in 1999 as part of the College of Engineering, our department focuses exclusively on Architecture Engineering. We offer two levels of academic studies:

Undergraduate study (BSc.): A comprehensive five-year program that grants students a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture Engineering. This curriculum provides a solid foundation in both traditional and contemporary architectural principles.

Postgraduate studies (MSc. and PhD): Our postgraduate programs offer advanced studies in various aspects and subjects of architecture. The Master’s program spans two years, while the Doctoral program requires four years of academic study. These programs delve deeper into specialized areas and contribute to the advancement of architectural knowledge.

Additionally, we now offer a one-year Diploma degree for individuals seeking to further their studies in the field.

Join us in the Architecture Engineering department as we shape the future of our built environment through innovative design, sustainable practices, and a deep understanding of architectural principles.

Our department envisions a harmonious integration of architecture, structural studies, theory, and design. We strive to equip our graduates with the necessary tools to actively engage in the dynamic and ever-evolving architectural landscape, anticipating and embracing paradigm shifts, and effectively responding to changes in local, national, and international communities.

At our department, we are dedicated to nurturing a generation of architects who are distinguished, scientifically and intellectually aware, and technically skilled. We prioritize the development of high-quality capabilities that enable our graduates to excel in their professional pursuits. They are instilled with a deep respect for the local, environmental, historical, cultural, and social identities while remaining conscious of contemporary advancements in scientific and technical domains.

Our ultimate goal is to contribute to the community by producing a new generation of skilled architects who can make significant contributions in both academic and professional spheres. By blending academic excellence with practical expertise, we aim to empower our graduates to shape the architectural landscape and positively impact society.

Join us in embracing the vision of our department as we strive to create architects who are not only capable but also conscious of their responsibilities to the built environment and the communities they serve.

Our mission is to provide students with a comprehensive education in various aspects of building design, including building construction, technology, urban design and planning, interior design, and landscape design. Alongside the theory and history of architecture, we prepare students to actively engage in social and field practices.

We strongly emphasize cooperation, academic interaction, and partnerships with other universities. By embracing different architectural approaches, we continuously improve our educational programs and ensure the quality and academic reliability of our outputs. Our aim is to foster an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence.

Furthermore, we are dedicated to supporting and preserving vernacular architecture. We recognize the value of local architectural heritage and actively contribute to its protection. Through research and studies at the local level, we shed light on the distinctive features of vernacular architecture, ensuring its significance is not lost or compromised.

Our mission is to equip students with a well-rounded education in building design while promoting collaboration, academic growth, and the preservation of architectural heritage. Together, we can inspire the next generation of architects who will make a positive impact on society and uphold the values of our built environment.

The Bologna process
The department follows the Bologna process of study, ensuring a standardized and internationally recognized framework.
- Each academic year consists of 30 studying weeks.
- Divided into two semesters, with a total of 30 ECTS credits per semester.

Teaching and learning
The program's primary focus is on building design, and as you progress through each year, you will undertake different projects. In your first year, foundational modules will strengthen your graphics techniques and principles of art and architecture, establishing a strong base for subsequent years. The second year introduces the integration of building construction and materials. In the third year, you will delve into the history and theory of architecture, advanced building technology, construction methods, and designing medium-scale projects. Additionally, you will undergo compulsory summer training for one month, providing practical experience. The fourth year involves tackling more complex building projects and incorporating interior and landscape design into your designs. Finally, in your last year, you will undertake a large-scale graduation project, applying the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program. You will also engage with modules on documentation, urban infill, and advanced design theories.

Assessment methods for BSc students include written exams, reports, and presentations for theory-based modules. In studio modules, your projects will be evaluated by teaching staff on a regular basis, guiding your progress through comparisons with your classmates' projects. Practical modules involve a series of evaluations leading up to a final project presentation, where a jury will assess your work.

Through our comprehensive curriculum and rigorous assessments, we strive to provide you with a well-rounded architectural education, preparing you for a successful career in the field.
