Designing a more convenient space

About Engineering

The Architecture Engineering department plays a crucial role in designing the buildings and spaces that shape our cities. Our program is tailored for talented students who have a passion for learning the art of building design, and integrating modern technology. We are committed to educating future generations of ethical professionals, creative designers, and knowledgeable citizens.

Established in 1999 as part of the College of Engineering, our department focuses exclusively on Architecture Engineering. We offer two levels of academic studies:

Undergraduate study (BSc.): A comprehensive five-year program that grants students a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture Engineering. This curriculum provides a solid foundation in both traditional and contemporary architectural principles.

Postgraduate studies (MSc. and PhD): Our postgraduate programs offer advanced studies in various aspects and subjects of architecture. The Master’s program spans two years, while the Doctoral program requires four years of academic study. These programs delve deeper into specialized areas and contribute to the advancement of architectural knowledge.

Additionally, we now offer a one-year Diploma degree for individuals seeking to further their studies in the field.

Join us in the Architecture Engineering department as we shape the future of our built environment through innovative design, sustainable practices, and a deep understanding of architectural principles.

- Each academic year consists of 30 studying weeks.
- Divided into two semesters, with a total of 30 ECTS credits per semester.

Teaching and learning
The program's primary focus is on building design, and as you progress through each year, you will undertake different projects. In your first year, foundational modules will strengthen your graphics techniques and principles of art and architecture, establishing a strong base for subsequent years. The second year introduces the integration of building construction and materials. In the third year, you will delve into the history and theory of architecture, advanced building technology, construction methods, and designing medium-scale projects. Additionally, you will undergo compulsory summer training for one month, providing practical experience. The fourth year involves tackling more complex building projects and incorporating interior and landscape design into your designs. Finally, in your last year, you will undertake a large-scale graduation project, applying the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program. You will also engage with modules on documentation, urban infill, and advanced design theories.

Assessment
Assessment methods for BSc students include written exams, reports, and presentations for theory-based modules. In studio modules, your projects will be evaluated by teaching staff on a regular basis, guiding your progress through comparisons with your classmates' projects. Practical modules involve a series of evaluations leading up to a final project presentation, where a jury will assess your work.
