Dr. Ahmed Saleh Mohammed, a highly esteemed Lecturer and Researcher within the College of Engineering, specifically in the Department of Civil Engineering, has received recognition as one of the world’s foremost scientists in the field of Construction and Building Materials, courtesy of Stanford University.
Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Salih Mohammed has maintained his status as one of the World’s Top 2% Scientists for three consecutive years, as conferred by Stanford University—one of the top 10 universities worldwide. This recognition is a testament to his exceptional scientific and research achievements, including citations, as further affirmed by Elsevier’s announcement on October 4, 2023.
Stanford University has developed a publicly accessible database of highly-cited scientists, offering standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in various authorship positions, and a composite indicator known as the c-score. The database provides separate data for career-long impact and single recent year impact, considering metrics with and without self-citations, as well as the citation-to-citing papers ratio.
Scientists are categorized into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields according to the standard Science-Metrix classification. Field- and subfield-specific percentiles are also available for all scientists with a minimum of five published papers. Career-long data is updated until the end of 2022, while single recent year data pertains to citations received during 2022.
Selection for this prestigious ranking is based on being among the top 100,000 scientists by c-score (with and without self-citations) or achieving a percentile rank of 2% or higher in a specific sub-field. This version (6) is derived from the October 1, 2023, snapshot from Scopus, updated to reflect citation data until the end of 2022.
This outstanding achievement not only highlights Dr. Ahmed Saleh Mohammed’s remarkable contributions but also underscores the College of Engineering’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and research prowess. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ahmed Saleh Mohammed for this extraordinary accomplishment.

For the “Building Materials” module, first-year architecture students were tasked with an assignment inspired by Sou Fujimoto’s exhibition: “Architecture Is Everywhere.” The assignment required students to create a mini model using random household materials available to them. This exercise aimed to encourage students to translate their designs into architecture, while also examining the impact of market material availability on architectural style and design. The objective was to foster an understanding of how resource constraints shape creative solutions in real-world architectural practice.
