On Thursday, April 25, 2024, the Deanship of the College of Engineering conducted a meeting with the heads of the laboratories at our college.

During the meeting, the significant progress of the College of Engineering’s ranking in Iraq and Kurdistan was highlighted. Earlier this year, it was proudly announced that in the latest Shanghai rankings, the College of Engineering at the University of Sulaimani achieved a remarkable position, ranking between 400-500 globally. This achievement was the result of several factors, including research projects conducted by the college staff in collaboration with our laboratories.

Taking this opportunity, the Dean and Vice Dean of the College expressed their gratitude to the officials of the college laboratories. They appreciated the pivotal role played by the laboratories in enhancing the college’s standards and contributing to its improved global ranking.

Additionally, the meeting provided a platform to exchange views and suggestions aimed at enhancing the capacity of the laboratories. Discussions were focused on addressing the needs of the laboratories and resolving any existing shortcomings to further elevate the college’s academic and research capabilities.

هەر بەو بۆنەیەوە بەڕێز ڕاگر و یاریدەدەری ڕاگری کۆلێج زۆر سوپاسی لێپرسراوانی تاقیگەکانی کۆلێجیان کرد وە پێزانینی خۆیان بۆ دەربڕین لە بەرامبەر ئەو ڕۆڵەی تاقیگەکان هەیانبووە لە پێشخستنی ئاستی کۆلێج و ڕانکینگی کۆلێج و ڕەخساندنی بواری زیاتری توێژینەوەی ئاست بەرزی زانستی .

هەروەها لە کۆبوونەوەکەدا ڕا و سەرنج ئاڵوگۆڕ کران بە مەبەستی پێشخستنی توانای تاقیگەکان و دابینکردنی پێداویستیەکانیان و پڕکردنەوەی هەر کەم و کورتیەک لە تاقیگەکاندا.

A delegation of 12th-grade students from Ranya recently embarked on an enlightening journey to the College of Engineering at the University of Sulaymaniyah. Welcomed by the esteemed Dean, Dr. Serwan Khurshid Rafiq, alongside dedicated faculty members and students from the ACI-UOS Student Chapter, the visit aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the various engineering disciplines.

During their visit, the students were introduced to the cutting-edge facilities and innovative research initiatives of the college. Through interactive discussions and engaging presentations, they gained valuable insights into the diverse fields of engineering and the multitude of career pathways available to them.

The primary objective of the visit was to offer guidance and information to the students as they navigate their future endeavors in engineering. By fostering an environment of open dialogue and exploration, the visit enabled the students to envision their academic journey and explore the myriad of exciting opportunities awaiting them in the dynamic field of engineering.

As the visit concluded, the students departed with newfound clarity and inspiration, equipped to embark on their engineering education with confidence and enthusiasm. The visit not only provided valuable knowledge but also ignited a passion for innovation and discovery in the next generation of engineers from Ranya.

سەردانەکە ئامانجی پێدانی تێگەیشتنێکی هەمەلایەنە بوو لە دیسیپلینە جیاوازەکانی ئەندازیاری. لە سەردانەکەیاندا، خوێندکاران ئاشنا کران بە بەشەکانی کۆلێج، تێڕوانینێکی بە نرخیان بەدەستهێنا لە بوارە جۆراوجۆرەکانی ئەندازیاری و ئەو داهاتووە پیشەییە زۆرەی کە لەبەردەستیاندایە.
ئامانجی سەرەکی سەردانەکە پێشکەشکردنی ڕێنمایی و زانیاری بوو بە خوێندکاران. سەردانەکە وایکرد خوێندکاران گەشتە ئەکادیمییەکانیان پێشبینی بکەن و بەدوای ئەو دەرفەتە بێشومارە سەرنجڕاکێشانەدا بگەڕێن کە چاوەڕێیان دەکەن لە بواری ئەندازیاریدا.
لەگەڵ کۆتایی هاتنی سەردانەکەدا، خوێندکاران بە تێگەیشتنێکی فراوانەوە ڕۆیشتن، بۆ ئەوەی بە متمانە و جۆش و خرۆشەوە هەوڵ بدەن بۆ دەست پێکردن بە خوێندنی ئەندازیاری لە داهاتوودا. سەردانەکە نەک هەر زانیاری بەنرخی دابین کرد بەڵکو خولیای داهێنان و دۆزینەوە لە نەوەی داهاتووی ئەندازیارانی ڕانیە پێشکەش کرد.

Today, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, a high-level delegation from the German Consulate visited the College of Engineering at the University of Sulaimani.

The delegation comprised two representatives from the German Embassy in Baghdad, a representative from the German Consulate in Erbil, a representative from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Iraq and Erbil, and a representative from the German KfW Development Bank in Iraq.

The purpose of their visit was to tour the Renewable Energy Center of the University of Sulaimani and engage in discussions with the Dean, Vice Dean of the College, Head of the Electricity Department, and directors of the centre.

The primary focus of the meeting was to explore avenues for assisting the government and the local community in the implementation of solar energy initiatives. Additionally, they exchanged ideas regarding potential collaborations on scientific research and the possibility of organizing a joint conference at the University of Sulaimani, specifically in the field of renewable energy.

A team of students from our college’s civil department, members of the ACI-UoS student chapter, including Mina Falah Hassan, Aran Fazil Omar, Hlnd Yaqub Mahdi, Maziar Razgar Ali, Sima Ehsan Rauf, and Hamza Mahdi Hama Arif, led by Dr. Ferhad Rahim Karim, secured the first place among 26 participating groups from universities across the Kurdistan Region.

Today, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, a workshop was held in the seminar hall of the College of Engineering in collaboration with the Sulaimani Construction Laboratory. The workshop was attended by relevant officials, university academic staff, engineers, personnel from concrete and steel factories, and students from engineering colleges.

The event commenced with a welcoming address by the Dean of the College, Prof. Serwan Khurshid Rafiq, who elucidated the purpose behind organizing the workshop. Following this, Mr. Fatih Abdullah, Director of Sulaimani Construction Laboratory, delivered a speech emphasizing the necessity of coordination between the College of Engineering and the public sector.

Subsequently, three seminars were presented by our academic staff, namely Dr. Brwa Hama Saeed, Dr. Ameer Mohammed Salih, and Dr. Sardar Rashid Mohammad. The participants engaged fervently in scientific discussions, delving deeply into the topics presented.

At the conclusion of the seminars, a panel session was chaired by the Dean of the college, during which participants had the opportunity to pose questions and engage in lively discussions on the seminar topics. All queries were addressed comprehensively by the academic staff. Additionally, several suggestions were put forward for future seminars.

In closing, the Sulaimani Construction Laboratory extended their gratitude to the College of Engineering and the seminar presenters through a letter of appreciation. On behalf of the College of Engineering, we extend a warm welcome to all participants and express our gratitude for their attendance. We look forward to continuing to organize such scientific seminars and assure all sectors, both public and private, of our commitment to resolving engineering challenges.

For the first time in Kurdistan’s university history, Sulaimani University’s College of Engineering has forged a landmark partnership with Temple University in the United States. This agreement aims to facilitate master’s studies continuation for students of Sulaimani University’s College of Engineering through the Dual Bachelor’s-Master’s Degree (DBMD) program.

We are pleased to announce that a seminar will be held on Sunday, 3/3/2024, at 10:00 am in the seminar hall of our college. The seminar will be conducted by Assis, Prof. Chro Haidar Ahmed, the program coordinator. We encourage all interested students (from the Civil and Electrical Department – 3rd and 4th stages) to attend this session, where they will receive detailed information on how to apply for the program and participate in online meetings with Temple University.
